Cause:

The Problem

Farmers with disabilities in Nigeria face discrimination, limited access to financial support, exclusion from training programs, and difficulties accessing farming tools adapted to their needs. Many rural agricultural communities perceive disabled individuals as incapable of farming, which further isolates them from economic opportunities.

The Solution

NWAPDI seeks to create an Inclusive Agriculture Program that will:

RAISE AWARENESS:

Educate the agricultural community on the rights and abilities of disabled farmers through community forums, training, and media advocacy.

DEVELOP ADAPTIVE FARMING TOOLS:

Work with agricultural equipment manufacturers to create and distribute disability-friendly farm tools.

PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

Establish a microfinance loan fund specifically for disabled farmers to acquire adapted farming equipment and resources.

CREATE A DISABILITY INCLUSIVE FARMING NETWORK:

Form a cooperative of disabled farmers to offer peer support, mentorship, and collective bargaining power.

ADVOCATE FOR POLICY CHANGE:

Partner with government agencies to introduce agriculture disability inclusion policies and funding programs.
